To get into a car along side a complete novice who has no knowledge whatsoever of handling a vehicle, let alone handle other drivers on our busy roads takes some guts. (Instructor)Knowing how to drive is simple? Knowing the high way code is even simpler, what isn't so simple is not to know what the other driver is going to do.The roads would be much safer if we were mind readers but unfortunately no glass ball to check out what lies ahead. The more lessons you have means more knowledge on the Highway Code...Instructors who EARN to driveOver a period of time the driving instructor that was once a stranger is now your friendly passenger who wants you to excel in your need to get a pass...
Helping you to build up confidence in your self will be one of his main priorities.Your friendly passenger has now become your companion, who throughout all your lessons has got to know you personally and corrected any bad habits you may have picked up while learning to driveThe magic moment has arrived to put in for your test. How do you know when the time is right? Simple, when the stalling or buck jumping of the car is all in the past, no more silly questions like where the clutch is. No more accidental curb mounting.
If any one should know you are ready to take that God fearing test, it has to be the stranger your friend your companion. (You're Instructor)He was the one who had the guts to get in beside you ignoring the dangers that lay ahead. He was with you throughout the teething stages, pampering you like a mother would with her child. The driving instructor makes the final decision that you are ready to take to the highways. Education goes no further because your instructor has taught you all there is to know. If this stranger your friend your companion your instructor had any doubts he would not allow you to put yourself and that of other motorists in danger. The TestWhy so many fail. The answer is nervesThey send in an official type looking geezer with a clipboard. Another stranger, only this one is never to become you're your friend your companion. He is out to pass judgment before the key is turned in the ignitionYou may guarantee if someone is waiting for you to make a mistake then the inevitable happens. This geezer's decision also undermines the driving instructor's better judgment. Driving instructors do the dirty work but when it comes to dishing out the filth, leave that to the examiners.(Earn to drive) Become a driving Instructor in your spare time. It does have its benefits and rewards.http://www.benidormbeaches.comMore confidence - more chance of passing. I passed my test in my own car, that vehicle went on to serve me for many years before I decided to trade it in for a newer modelKacy

How to Prepare Your Automobile for Long Term Storage
Author : Jason Miller
If you are leaving town for an extended period of time or are storing a vehicle for seasonal use, there are several things you can do to protect your automobile and insure it will be ready for use when you retrieve it. Taking the time to prepare your car right will save you a lot of grief and money later on.The first step is to find a suitable location for long term storage. This is critical. The location should be secure, dry and clean. Putting it in a dusty barn is probably one of the worst places for you car. Make sure the storage place is dry and free of moisture. Moisture, humidity and condensation are the biggest hazards to exterior, interior and engine. Rust and corrosion can form on exposed metal and mold and mildew can grow in the interior as well. The best place is a climate controlled storage facility. Just look under storage in the yellow pages and there should be some options for you. Also, you will need to rodent proof your storage as well. Rats can destroy the wiring system. They can also get into the interior and build nests there. One option is to place rat poison or some other pest control device around the car. Ma If the storage unit has power to it, I would recommend getting a noise box that repels rats and mice. You can buy them at your local hardware store. These are very safe and will not hurt pets or children.Once you have picked a suitable location, it is time to prepare your car.Step one is to change the oil and replace it with a synthetic. Changing the oil before storage will reduce moisture in the system and help prevent corrosion in the engine. The reason for synthetic oil is because of the coating properties and it will not break down as quickly as conventional oil.Now you will need to fill the gas tank completely full. Most people siphon out the gas and leave the tank empty. This is not correct and the moisture left in the empty tank will encourage rust. Fill the tank as high as you can and leave it. This will prevent moisture from forming and prevent rust accumulation. It is also prudent to add in a gas stabilizer as well. The next step is the battery. If the vehicle is in for short term storage, you may want to hook up battery charger to the battery. This will insure all electrical equipment like stereo will have power and any saved settings will be there when you return. For longer periods of time, remove the battery. Batteries can crack and leak acid everywhere. In this case it is best to just remove it and replace it when you return. The next area to prepare is the external weather stripping and tires. The best product to use for this is a lithium grease. Stay away from petroleum based products. They will eventually dry out and crack the rubber. To apply the grease, spray it on a rag first and then wipe it on the tires and weather stripping. Be sure to cover the gaskets in the doors, sunroof and trunk. For the interior, use a leather or vinyl conditioner. This will safeguard these surfaces from cracking and drying. The last step is to thoroughly clean the exterior. After you have washed it, apply a coat of wax and buff it out. If you have an air buffer, this process will be a lot easier and will be more effective. Then cover the car with a good quality car cover. If you follow these basic steps, your expensive automobile should be in the same shape you left it before your journey.Jason is the webmaster for Red Hill Supply - Online Air ToolsAutomotive Air Conditioning Tools, Refrigerant Leak Detectors, Air buffers, Air Sanders and More - Red Hill Supply

Wildfire Ash and the Carwash Business
Author : Lance Winslow
Out West after large wildfires many carwashes have long lines for weeks. Many think it is a boon for the industry. Indeed, a lot of revenue is generated during fire seasons and the ask must be cleaned off the mini-vans, cars, light trucks and SUVs or it could contribute to the early decay of the clear-coat finish.Fire Season comes every year in the Western States, started by lightning, carelessness and arson. These fires burn thousands if not hundreds of thousands of acres annually. Special soaps and sometimes even in the best and most efficient carwash tunnels a double pass is needed to truly clean the vehicle. This of course equates to more hassle, higher operational costs and therefore adverse effects on return on investment.A carwash near a fire area could expect double or triple the volume and therefore double or triple the revenue, although not double or triple the profits. The full service carwashes must spend more time and effort in pre-soak and scrubbing prior to the tunnel allowing for proper soap dwell time. Automatic rollover carwashes experience dirty brushes, which move sooty streaky muck onto the next car and this causes issues. Those in the mobile car wash business absolutely hate it, because it means a lot of hand scrubbing, extra soap and therefore more rinsing which depletes their on board water supplies. Additionally the extra water usage causes more runoff, which is not allowed into a storm drain and must be collected and removed to a POTW Publicly Owned Treatment Works. The car wash industry therefore asks the public to be careful this fire season, do not throw cigarettes out the window and report any suspicious potential arson activity you see. Tips For The First Time Driver
Author : Pete Lance
As a first time driver, you should realize the importance of building a good driving record. All of us know that smart drivers are safe drivers. Before getting yourself into the driver's seat, enroll yourself in a driver's/defensive-driving program. You should realize that driving is a privilege, not a right.Selection of CarMake a thoughtful decision on the type of car you will be driving. The most suitable vehicle for a first time driver is a moderate-sized vehicle, rather than a small car or sports car.Though young first time drivers prefer to go for sports type car, I would strongly advise them not to. Many people think that the older car is the best one for first time drivers but not so. A new car with good performance is always better as there will be no unexpected problems with it.Auto TransmissionAs a first time driver, you should go with auto transmission vehicles than manual ones. Driving distractions such as tuning the tape while driving, looking at the sign boards, talking to the co-passengers can easily cause one to lose focus and forget to change gears. So the cars with manual transmission should be avoided. My advice would be to purchase a manual transmission car only after one to two years of driving experience.Insurance CoverageThis is an important thing to look at before you go for your first drive. You should decide yourself whether it would be wiser to pay for your auto accident out of pocket or file a claim. Once you begin adding tickets and accidents to your driving record, premiums will skyrocket, so beware.Don't Drink and DriveAs cliché as it sounds, do not drink and drive. All drivers, new or experienced, should have good knowledge about alcohol driving. The first time driver should understand the responsibility involved and the laws against alcohol driving. Can you imagine if you lose your vehicle on your first drive due to drink driving? The risk in not worth it!Complements of http://www.usgastracker.org Lowest gas prices for any US zip code. Free daily email delivered daily in a nice tabulated format with locations and prices. Gasoline Efficiency
Author : Lance Winslow
Losing money and not making the grade Delphi has declared bankruptcy and threatens to bring down a major automaker. Meanwhile Japanese automakers have increased their market share by over 3.4% over the last year due to the high fuel costs and the energy savings that these smaller vehicles are said to give.During the Deming years Japanese Automakers taught the gas guzzling US Automakers a lesson. Will we see a repeat of that recent period in the manufacturing of automobiles? Can our nation become more efficient and build cars which save gas? The Japanese competition helped in a way, as it provided the competition to create more efficient fuel economy. Right now the Chinese have introduced a car, which is simple and efficient and they are selling like hot cakes there. Will it be Chinese teach us a lesson here too? Again. The DOE Department of Energy reports show that a, one percent efficiency in fuel equates to a $1.6 billion benefit to the economy. So what happens when you get a 10% boost in fuel consumption? Well that is a 16 billion dollar increase. But did you know that those studies were done when fuel prices were $1.20 per gallon and by the end of the year Americans will be paying $3.60 per gallon, meaning that the new figure equates to $48 Billion dollars. But there is even another issue we are facing now and that is the cost in creases in goods and services for everything we buy. If we increase efficiency we lower our cost of living, meaning increase our standard of living and quality of life. Think on this.Lance Winslow - Online Think Tank forum board. Do You Really Want to Own an H2 Hummer? (Luxury/Exotic Car Buying Guide for Beginners)
Author : Entjik Jeffrie
You were finally out of college, and you got your first a great paying job. Now you could buy all the things that you couldn't afford while you were in college. You walked into a Hummer dealership and bought yourself an H2 Hummer. You didn't have the money to buy the car cash, but since you now have a steady income from your paycheck, you are now qualified for the low down monthly payment loan. You decided to buy the Hummer with $1000 down payment and agreed to pay $400/month for the $40,000 loan for your new H2 Hummer. You drove home proudly and showed all your best friends and even your enemies that you now have an H2 Hummer. Your friends applauded you, they surrounded your car with awe, they loved you, they said good things about the car, and you felt so good to the bones. You drove with your friends around the town every night and went to every party they had in town the first month you owned the H2 Hummer. It felt so good to have everybody looking at your new Hummer. The second month of owning your new Hummer the first bill finally arrived from the bank where you got the loan from. You now had to pay the $400 month you promised to pay the bank to finish your $40,000 auto loan for the Hummer. You found out later than your gas bill for your Hummer was $500 the first month of driving it. Now you had to come up with $900/month just to pay the loan and the gas!You only had one job that pays $2000/month, and your rent is $900. $1800 of your money went to rent and your beloved Hummer. You looked good, but no body knew that you were on an instant ramen noodle diet and you can only drink water, since you could no longer buy food to eat, since all your money went to buy gas and to pay the car payment.Since you were so broke now, the bank came to rescue you by sending a credit card application. So you were now qualified to have a credit line of $8000. You said "Wow, now I can buy food by using my credit card!" You went out there and bought all the food you need and went partying again by using your credit card. You also bought a lot of nice clothes, shoes and toys. The only thing that you forgot was you didn't have enough money to pay the credit card company back, since most of your money had been used to pay for the Hummer, the gas, and rent.Within 8 months, you were stuck with $8000 debt and you made a lot of late payment that increase the interest rate of your credit card. Every month as you saw your credit card statement, the bank charged you $500 every month from the interest rate. Your debt rose every month from $8,000 to $8,500, from $8500 to $10,000 and so on.You were now in a big trouble, while you are still driving around in your nice H2 Hummer! One day the bank where you got the auto loan from to buy the Hummer called you because you could not keep up with the car payment. So they took your Hummer away since you could no longer pay them the monthly payment.Today you no longer have your Hummer and also you are stuck with $10,000 plus debt from your credit card. Your friends decided not to hang out with you anymore, because now you are so broke!Do you still want to own the Hummer H2?©Copyright 2005 Pebden.com, Author: Entjik Jeffrie, All Rights Reserved.

Budget Performance-Car Value - Honda CRX
Author : David Bellm
Looking for sports-car kicks, but with the abundance of speed parts and vast modification potential of a Civic? Look no further than Honda's feisty little CRX.These pocket-size coupes made their debut for 1984. Essentially a two-seat version of the redesigned Civic also introduced that year, the CRX was initially aimed at people who sought frugal commuting (base 1.3-liter versions had EPA fuel economy ratings of 51 mpg city, 67 highway). But the real news for enthusiasts came the following year when Honda gave the CRX its sporty Si version, which included upgraded suspension, performance-oriented tires, and a hotter 91-hp version of its 1.5-liter engine -- good for sub-nine-second 0-60 mph times in the featherweight car.For 1988, an all-new CRX bowed, based again on a new Civic platform. CRX's wheelbase increased, and this second-generation design was somewhat heavier and bigger overall. Fortunately, performance remained in the same league, with the Si's horsepower rating increasing to 105, then 108 the following year. For 1990, CRX got four-wheel-disc brakes. As sweet of a car as it was, this generation of CRX was destined to be the last -- Honda discontinued the line after 1991, replacing it with the similar but open-roofed Del Sol several years later.Today, used CRXs are pretty easy to find, but it can sometimes be hard to gauge their true value -- completely stock ones are showing up less and less since these cars became immensely popular with sport-compact fans. The price of a particular CRX can often depend on the various upgrades it's received.Popular mods include body kits, custom paint, aftermarket wheels, and hotter VTEC engine swaps. As with any modified car, look closely at how well upgrades are executed. In most cases, the work will have been done by the car's owner, whose talent, budget, and experience are unknowns. Most CRXs now sell for less than $5000, with many of them below $3000. Those sub-$3k CRXs tend to be unmodified. And unmodified CRXs also tend to be unrestored. That can be an important point, because all CRXs are at least 14 years old -- a lot them are pretty tired. You aren't likely to find a CRX with less than 100,000 miles at this point. Therefore buyers who want a completely stock example to start with will need to carefully consider how much money and patience they're willing to devote to basic mechanical repairs.First-generation CRXs are getting kind of scarce, but if you have your heart set on their lighter weight and trimmer dimensions, those cars can be found with a little patience. And one plus is that they tend to show up in the lower end of the price range.Regardless of what generation or level of modification, Honda's little CRXs can offer big-time fun. They're good performers to start with, there's plenty of aftermarket stuff available, and prices are about as low as performance cars go. Check 'em out.For more on affordable performance cars, along with drive-test articles on today's hottest sports cars, sport compacts, and muscle cars, go to http://www.autiv.com/.David Bellm is a seasoned test driver and automotive writer. Oil Cartel and Washington D.C.
Author : Lance Winslow
Often you will hear anti-sentiments of disenchanted Democrats complain about the Leadership of our nation, claiming those oil people do not care about us. The government and Oil Companies are a giant cartel they will tell you. Indeed they also will add in other large corporations and Industries and the longer you listen to them long enough they will add you in too. In fact this is what recently happened to me while sitting in a coffee shop in Tallahassee, Florida. This Bozo, actually accused me of being in on this so-called conspiracy against America or whatever libelous term he was using on that day. Why? Well, he said because I was in the carwash business and cars use gasoline from oil companies and because I had a conservative point of view or displacement.Boy I thought that sure was stretch indeed, but I decided to engage this bogus argumentative bozo, just to screw with their head, call me a masochist, but I had some time to kill. Here is basically what I told the guy, I said, look if someone does not want to buy fuel or American Iron on wheels they have the choice right?I said if you want to change this design a car that runs on water and is made of some other material, with no plastics in it and needs nothing but vegetable oil for lubrication? He was an alternative energy person so I asked have you considered making another option right? That solves that problem.I explained that with GM's 3rd quarter loss and possible ditching of GMAC shows they will have to re-invent themselves, as they also announced pension and healthcare concessions with their Union. Tooling is an issue also causing rifts in new concepts is the problem with class action lawsuits, over regulation. All caused by negative sentiment like your comments to me. If you attack and call foul, then the government will respond with more regulations, thus raising prices, preventing re-investment, innovation and re-tooling along with more opportunities from Lawyer to sue.In that climate if you were Ford with a $280 million dollar third quarter loss and forced to close plants or General Motors with their business challenges already would you bother? Hell, I wouldn't. Since this bozo, who was a phychologist of all people was into alternative energy, even though he was driving and SUV, I said well what about a Natural Gas plant, Nuclear Power planet of simply, adding advanced environmental controls to your Coal fired generation plant? No, you wouldn't either, just try to dodge the massive onslaught Sierra Club lawsuits, permit filings. While, I'll bet building a Refinery would cost 200-300 Million damn dollars to design and get an EIP before you even turned shovel one. For the right to deliver to the free market what they are demanding? At that rate and attack on free markets I say let the people starve, which is what is happening isn't it? Go read Ayn Rand. I am against Cartels in theory, but equally against the enforcement of Monopolies, which have been built, competed and won by increased efficiency and consumer dollar voting. Yet we attack the latter and the free market winners. It is our fault not the Oil Companies for exercising their rights to free contract. You got a better plan bring it on, instead he went for a refill on his latte. But I said; you will find the government regulations in the way of delivering what is best for all concerned, the company you run, industry, consumer, future of American and even the environment is harmed. So one could complain about the DC, TX, Detroit so called cartel groups, but one could also see our attacks on the very industries which built this nation. I suppose if these companies would run like Alfred Sloan had envisioned them in the auto industry for instance and like both GE and Boeing currently does, that they might have not gotten their selves in such a pickle. So we can complain about and blame and label and get all caught up in it, or we can streamline it all, kill all the lawyers. Then you can get with some of your friends and build a new kind of company to deliver the needs to the people. You can call it whatever you want, even a cartel, I wouldn't care, as a customer, I just want what I want and you would have the right to charge as much as you can get as per economic theory of supply and demand and whatever the market will bare. If I don't like paying as high a price, I can vote with dollar. So I then suggested to the gentleman, bozo, that if had that much of a problem with it all, why was he buying a Latte from Starbucks which owns their own coffee fields, isn't that a monopolistic conspiracy too? Or why he paid $80.00 to fill up his Mercedes SUV? All those purchases and his burkenstocks were consumer choices. If you decide not to vote for what the so called cartel is selling they you can start your great company with a MIT Media Center Style future flying car which gets 1000 miles to the gallon ad runs on water. Yet these complaints to me and the letters you are writing to your elected representatives to put a moratorium on the price of gasoline against the free market mechanism is insanity. All that does is simply causes them to implement more rules for these industries to comply with and that means they pass the cost onto all of us, thus this is where we are; a lot of good that does. Whose fault is that, it is yours look in the mirror; not the Cartels? If you do not want it don't buy it. They make money giving us what we want and desire and you have voted with your dollar, thus end of story. In the auto sector it appears that the public is not getting what we want now, and some are paying for it 3% loss in domestic car sales market to Japanese which is giving us the what we want. Efficiency, fuel economy and hybrid technologies, that is how the free market works, so let it work, you jerk. No, I did not actually call this bozo a jerk, but I thought it. So you think on it and don't be a bozo, you know.Lance Winslow - Online Think Tank forum board. 5 Tips About BMW Accessories
Author : Dan Ford
You have worked and worked and worked some more, you have saved and sacrificed. You finally have it, the BMW that you have always wanted. Now, you want, no need to make it more personal, more yours. Its time to accessorize. However, where do you begin? Follow these tips to find the right accessories for you and your car.1- One of the best places to start your search for the right accessory is online. There are numerous stores and dealers that offer items from floor mats to graphics and everything in between. Online, you can see pictures, read reviews and get the chosen items shipped directly to your door. As an added bonus, many online stores either deeply discount the products or offer free shipping.2- However, if you prefer, you can go into a BMW dealership and speak with someone personally to pick out the accessories that best suit your personality and price range. The dealership may also be able to help you by allowing you to see what the accessory will look like on your car before you purchase it, therefore avoiding making a costly mistake.3- Some of the most popular accessories for BMW's are wheels, stereos and interior accessories such as steering wheels and gearshift covers. These particular types of after market items come in a variety of styles and prices, there is, literally something for everyone4- Another excellent and often overlooked source of BMW accessories are car clubs, specifically BMW clubs. These types of clubs are full of other enthusiasts who are normally very happy to help you search for an accessory as they have the same interests in their cars as you do in yours. You can find these clubs via the internet, yellow pages or BMW car dealers.5- After all the research and actual searching for accessories is complete, its time to install. For a lot of car buffs this part is more anticipated than actually seeing what the part looks like on. However, to ensure that you are installing the accessory correctly you are going to need instructions. Often times, the part itself comes with, at best, vague directions. It would be best to contact other BMW owners, either through a car club or via online forums and chat rooms. They will be your best source of actual how-to instructions to get your BMW outfitted and more suited to your personality. Have fun.Dan Ford writes about bmw parts online and offline. 1967-68 Shelby GT-500: When Shelby's 'Stangs Moved From Race Grid to Cruise Strip
Author : David Bellm
Let's face it, some like their performance cars raw, some like them with a healthy dose of seasonings and side dishes. And sometimes a machine's recipe evolves from one style to the other. That was certainly the case with one of ex-racer Carroll Shelby's most famous cars. For 1965, he began production of hopped-up Mustangs at his shop in California. For those first couple years, his 'Stangs, called GT-350s, were barely-disguised competition tools. With a road-racing suspension setup, high-strung small-block V8, and lack of a backseat on which to haul buddies, those original GT-350s weren't a popular pick with the burger-joint crowd. And that was fine with Ford, at least at first -- Shelby's cooperation on the Mustang was initially sought to give competition credibility to Ford's pioneering ponycar, which GT-350s did handily by winning sports-car races. But starting with the '67 model year, Ford began expecting Shelby's machines to speak to a more mainstream performance crowd -- the typical muscle-car buyer. Signaling this shift toward street appeal over race-track prowess were mandatory power steering and power brakes, along with a number of optional comfort and convenience features, including air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, and tinted glass. And, perhaps most importantly, a backseat was now standard. But despite the added weight of such amenities, Shelby's machines hadn't lost their bite. Although the base GT-350's V8 was now somewhat tamer, that model for '67 was joined by the new GT- 500, powered by a torquey 428-cid big-block V8 rated at 360 hp.For '68, the GT-500 packed an even bigger wallop, with the midyear introduction of the GT-500KR "King of the Road," which had a 428 that was some 40 hp stouter yet. Also that year, the Shelby Mustang's fastback bodystyle was joined by a convertible, to further appeal to the boulevard cruising set.Development and production of Shelbys continued along similar lines into the next generation of Mustangs, ending in 1970.Today, muscle-car fans are divided on which of the Shelby Mustangs are the greatest -- the almost race-ready early versions, or the punchier, plusher, more street-appropriate later ones. Regardless, any flavor of Shelby Mustang is counted among the great performance cars, a fact clearly reflected in the hefty prices these cars command nowadays. For more articles on muscle cars and vintage sports cars, along with drive-test articles on today's hottest performance cars, go to http://www.autiv.com/David Bellm is a seasoned test driver and automotive historian. 2006 Jaguar X Type: Luxury for the Commoner
Author : Matthew Keegan
Prices for top selling luxury cars can easily top $50,000 when taxes, destination charges, and dealer prep fees are factored in. Generally, this isn't a problem as the customer who purchases a vehicle of this renown can afford the big price tag. However, automakers have learned that there is a market for "entry level" luxury cars for up and coming buyers who want the name without paying the steep price. The dilemma for automakers is not to water down the product line, rather to offer a car that upholds the marquee without diluting its value. One such car that has successfully filled that criterion is the Jaguar X Type, the focus of this review.Admittedly, I am biased toward purchasing American cars even through the ups and downs of the U.S. car industry. Still, I am fascinated by changes that occur in vehicles throughout the world as I know that at some point those changes will be incorporated into cars traversing North American highways. One such feature that I have seen grow more commonplace is the use of all wheel drive to power automobiles. Subaru, for years, has offered all wheel drive across their model line, but few cars – foreign or domestic – have incorporated what has chiefly been the realm of sport utility vehicles. In 2002 Jaguar introduced its first all wheel drive car, the X Type, a compact sedan. Fresh on the heels of the successful launch of the midsized S Type, the X Type's base price began around $30,000 well within the range of other entry level luxury cars in its class including the Saab 9-3 and Audi A4. As a "bonus" all wheel drive was made standard supposedly giving the X Type an edge over most competitors. Unfortunately, it did not work out that way.The original X Type performed poorly against the competition. Published reports stated that the car was too small, less dependable, and not as powerful as other cars in its class. Sales were sluggish for the first three years before Jaguar overhauled the car in time for the 2005 model year. For 2006, these changes were brought forward and include as many as one thousand component changes over the original model. If you purchase an X Type, there is only one engine that comes with the car: a 24 valve 3.0L V6. Paired with a five speed automatic, the engine kicks out a respectable 227hp, not bad for a car weighing in at just over 3500 lbs.The interior is atypical Jaguar: beautiful. Bronze Sapele wood, finished chrome, and leather appointments truly make the X Type a car lovely to behold on the inside as well as the outside. Standard interior features include an Alpine® 10-speaker, 320-watt sound system; 8 way power adjustable driver's seat; tilt/cruise; power everything; are some of the stand outs of the X Type. Optional equipment allows for owners to select Bluetooth® hands-free voice connectivity and SIRIUS® Satellite Radio. For ultimate luxury the Vanden Plas edition, formerly available on only larger Jaguars, is now available on the X Type. Larger wheels and an assortment of trim packages are the hallmarks of a Vanden Plas equipped car.For the exterior, traction control is mated with the all wheel drive system to give an optimum level of handling and braking performance. Rain sensing wipers, power/heated door mirrors, and automatic headlamps are all features found on the X Type. Of course, one of the most sought after features is its looks: distinctive Jaguar lines, the trademark split grille, and quad round headlamps.Base price for the X Type starts at about $33,000 for the sedan and is three to four thousand dollars more for the Vanden Plas sedan and sport wagon models, respectively. Roughly half of all Jaguar sales come from the X Type and the entire company's success in North America is dependent on how well the X Type is received. Judging by the changes put in place by Jaguar, the X Type should continue to carry the lion's share of the market while keeping the Jaguar name front and center.Copyright 2005 -- Matt Keegan is a contributing writer for Auto Parts Canada, a wholesaler of fine

You Can Install Custom Tail Lights
Author : Matthew Keegan
You have seen them on all kinds of cars: tail lights that are an obvious aftermarket modification that give even the most nondescript compact sedan an attention getting, stylish look. From Neons to Civics, and from Dakotas to Escalades, and for mostly any model in between, enthusiasts are changing their vehicle's appearance with these cool looking mods. Exactly what are they? Some call them European tail lights while others call them Altezzas, after the name of a popular manufacturer of this type of tail light. No matter what you call them, you can install a pair in less than one hour on your vehicle.European tail lights are an easy to install modification of your car's tail light assembly. Available as either "clear tail lights" or "red tail lights" your stock tail light assemblies are replaced with a custom fitted unit developed for your particular make/model. In short what you are doing is installing crystal clear or red lenses that go over bullet-style taillight and turn signal lenses. The new lenses, paired with style rings and platings, help to accentuate the light emitting from auto tail lights and turn signals for a distinctive look that is vastly superior to the original design.Euro tail lights are marketed in an assortment of styles and bezel colors including chrome, carbon fiber, black, etc.; some surfaces are paintable for a customized appearance. What's more, new LED or light emitting diode tail lights are catching on tool. This particular mod features the fitting of new bulbs that light quicker and illuminate brighter than standard tail light bulbs. LED bulbs are filament free and can bear up under grueling road conditions better than any stock bulb. At some point in the future all vehicles will likely come equipped with LEDs, but why wait that long?Naturally, if you already own certain European models – BMW and Audi are two examples -- then you probably are satisfied with your stock lights as they are what inspired the whole "Euro tail light" craze in the first place.Best of all, Euro tail lights are street legal and meet stringent Department of Transportation (DOT) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) regulations. No need to worry about being ticketed by highway patrol either unless you modify the mod illegally!Manufacturer directions are simple to follow and assembly can be completed in as little as 30 minutes for the pair. So, before you know it you'll be cruising down Rodeo Drive in your little deuce coupe for the whole world to see!Matt Keegan is an auto aficionado and contributing writer for PitStop Auto Parts, a seller of discount auto accessories including
IPCW tail lights and APC tail lights for your car, truck, van, or SUV.

Thanksgiving Travel Tips to Save Money on Gas
Author : Leni Kass
Thousands will be opting to take to the road instead of the air for their annual Thanksgiving Day visit to "grandmother's house." Joel Burrows, a.k.a. "The Car Doctor" and vice president of training/R&D at Precision Tune Auto Care, has timely advice to help travelers keep their cars in good working order while saving money at the gas pumps this holiday season. Before heading out, check your vehicle's fluid levels … oil, brake and radiator. Check all of the hoses. If any are frayed, cracked, mushy or leaking, have them replaced. If accessible, squeeze the hose. If a cracking sound is heard, this indicates internal wearing of the hose and necessitates replacement. For added peace of mind, The Car Doctor suggests having an air induction and fuel injection cleaning process performed. Especially if you notice that your car isn't performing as well as usual. Some service centers call it a fuel system service. Not only does this procedure help with many driveability issues, it is the one single procedure you can have performed that will make an immediate increase in fuel economy and performance. Check your tires' air pressure. When tires aren't inflated properly, it can cost a mile or two per gallon, according to the Car Care Council. Check your tires' air pressure when the tires are cold. Make sure they're all inflated according to the manufacturer's specifications. You can find this in your car's owner's manual or possibly on a chart inside one of the car's doors, on the gas cap, or on the trunk deck lid.Use proper octane fuel. Higher-octane gas, which produces less energy, not only costs more, it also yields lower miles per gallon. Have a certified technician perform an engine and emissions analysis to ensure that the engine is running at maximum efficiency.Maintain steady speeds; use over-drive and cruise control on the open road. Avoid making quick starts or stops. To avoid jamming on brakes, stay a good distance from the car in front of you. When possible, slow down simply by taking your foot off the gas. Every car has an optimum efficiency level, at which it operates best. However, most people drive at these speeds only 1 to 3 percent of the time. For most cars, the optimum speed is between 38 and 48 miles per hour, but any speed over 55 miles per hour causes your fuel efficiency to decrease. Plus, driving faster makes your tires heat up more, which causes them to wear out sooner. Drive smoothly. Whenever possible, avoid jerky stops and starts. If people drove more smoothly, they could increase their gas mileage from 300 miles per tank to 330, for example. Plus, driving more gently will decrease wear and tear on both your car's brakes and tires. For safety bring a cell phone and road map. Once you arrive at your destination, have a wonderful holiday feast and remember to follow the above advice for the drive back home.Leni Kass has been in marketing and public relations for over 15 years. Bob Crowley and his wife, Teresa, were proud of their silver Honda Accord. Despite living in the city and parking their car right on the street, their '98 Accord was nearly free of dings. The finish looked just as good as when they purchased the car. How could this be possible? With kids playing stick ball, tight parallel parking, air pollution, and pigeons that frequently splattered cars up and down the street, no car was immune from the regular insults of urban living. For the Crowley's it was no mystery: a custom fitted car cover was placed over their Accord whenever it was parked to give it maximum protection. For an investment costing less than two hundred dollars you can protect your car too. Please read on to discover all the advantages of utilizing a high quality car cover.Without exception, a custom fitted car cover offers the best protection for any vehicle. Don't think for a moment that your car's finish isn't immune from harmful solar rays. Even the best finishes come under attack and need protection. Regular washes and waxing does help, but in between times your finish is under constant assault.Small Impacts -- No, a car cover won't protect your vehicle from another car slamming into it, but it can protect your car from someone who opens their door and bangs into your car as well as kids on skates who get a kick out using your hood as a seat for rest.Intruders -- Why is it that strangers think nothing of peering into your unoccupied car when you are not around? Drivers Education for Teens
Author : Wesley Smith
Virtually every teenager will do it; take a drivers education course to obtain their learners permit and eventually an unrestricted drivers license. Most states have requirements that must be met for a teen to get their learners permit. What is a learners permit?A learners permit is a special permit issued by a State Department of Motor Vehicles (often referred to as DMV, but some states have varying titles) office for teenagers to begin "behind the wheel" drivers education training. For many states, the average age you can apply for a learners permit is 15. However, there are a few states where you can apply as early as 14 and as late as 16 years of age. Different states have different requirements. For example, there are a few states that have no formal requirements, where as most require initial written testing of driving basics. Six to eight hours of classroom (or approved home training course) is typically required.Drivers Education TrainingOnce you've achieved your initial learners permit, you can expect to continue your classroom study, but can typically begin your "behind the wheel" training with an adult; usually a drivers education instructor or parent. During this time, most states require a certain number of hours of "behind the wheel" experience. You'll learn many of the basics, such as: stopping, watching for traffic around you, turning, identifying various traffic signs, how to parallel park and more. Don't take these for granted! Your initial drivers education training can set an important track for your driving record. The trip to your local DMVOnce you've completed an approved drivers education course, you'll be issued a license. This varies from state to state. Some allow you to complete a drivers education course while 15, but must wait until you are 16 years of age to obtain a license. Still others impose conditions for a new driver, such as limited hours of driving, driving with an adult of a certain age, etc. Your local DMV office will let you know any special provisions. Before you get your license, there are some things you should know about that will be necessary to receive your drivers license. DMV offices are very strict about documentation you must present to get your license. You should always check with them first and even get a checklist. Typical items you will need to bring to your local DMV office to obtain your drivers license:Your original birth certificate, or a certified copy of your birth certificate with a state seal. Be prepared! Simply taking a photocopied certificate will not work for most states. You should be prepared for this very early on in your drivers education training. If need by, contact the state where you were born to obtain a certified copy if you do not have one, or your original certificate.Social Security Card. Make sure you have your social security card. Most metropolitans have a local Social Security Office where you can quickly go and obtain an SSN card if you've lost your original. Again, make sure you have this early on.Glasses or contacts. You will be required to take an eye exam when applying for your drivers license. Be sure to bring your glasses or wear your contacts to the DMV office.Proof of completion of a state approved drivers education course. If you are taking a local classroom drivers education course, they should provide you with a certificate. You should always be sure they are certified by the state, if your state requires such certification. If you have taken a state approved home study course, such as a parent taught course issued by some states, or a third party software training course, they will provide you with a certificate of completion.Proof of insurance. Check with your local DMV. Some states require this, some states may not. You should have the minimum insurance required for your state, usually liability insurance. Be prepared to present proof of insurance to the DMV clerk.Proof of enrollment in High School. Many states require that you be enrolled in school and have proof of enrollment to obtain a drivers license under the age of 18. Your school will have the necessary form and can provide it for you to take to the DMV office. In cases where you may no longer be in school, and have opted for a GED, make sure you bring your GED certificate with you. These are the typical things you will need to take to your local DMV office when applying for your drivers license. Of course, each state can vary and you can visit your State's DMV website for more specific information.Drivers Education SoftwareMore and more states are offering modern alternatives to the typical classroom drivers education courses. Some states offer a parent taught drivers education where students can study and test at home, as well as "behind the wheel" with a parent or legal guardian. Many states are now allowing students to take an approved CD ROM based or online course.Wesley Smith is the Product Manager for the Drivers Education web site and helps teens with state driving requirements to obtain their learners permit and drivers license.

Towing Mirrors: One of the Newest Products from Auto Parts Corner
Author : Tracy Dawson
Towing mirrors are one of the most commonly used mirror accessories. They do not come as standard mirror equipment in vehicles but are rather installed whenever the need for one arises. It plays a vital role in the safety and protection of the driver as well as the passengers against problems that may arise due to poor visibility. Proper concentration on the road is a must for the driver but the capacity of his eyes to see all sides and corners of the road he is driving in is too limited since so many things can happen in just a second, someone could cross the street while you're looking at the back and it may be too late to take control of your car's speed.

Winter Driving Tips
Author : Marilyn Pokorney
When winter weather strikes the best thing to do is to stay
home or wherever you may be at the time. But if you
absolutely must be driving, then here are some tips from the
experts to keep you safe.First of all, make sure your car is in perfect working
order. If you need to be driving in a lot of snowy
conditions get four good snow tires.Know what your car can and cannot do in the snow.Keep a snow brush, ice scraper, shovel, and a bag of sand
in the trunk. Place the sandbag over the rear axle. Add
extra windshield washer fluid, a blanket and old clothes and
boots as well.Pack a burlap bag, grocery bag, cardboard, deicer, or fresh
cat litter for traction in case you get stuck.Take extra time to make sure your windows, sideview
mirrors and lights are all brushed clean of snow.Clean the snow off the entire car so it doesn't blow onto
your windshield or fly into windshields of other drivers.
Keep gas tank always over half full.Accelerate, drive, turn and brake slowly and gently.Leave plenty of distance between you and other cars.
Turn headlights on low beam during daylight. It will make
it easier for other drivers to see you.Try to back into the garage or parking space. Pulling out
will be easier than backing out.Always turn into a skid. If the drive wheels start to spin
or slide while going up a hill, ease off on the accelerator
slightly and then gently resume speed.Decelerate well in advance of a turn or stopping point. When approaching a stop with alternate patches of ice and
bare pavement brake as you cross the bare spot and coast
over the ice.Stay at least 15 car lengths (200 feet) back from sanders
and plows.Don't use cruise control or overdrive.Call ahead and let your destination know your approximate
arrival time. Likewise, when you arrive at your destination
call and let your family and friends know you have arrived
safely. And lastly, keep your car clean. Corrosive chemicals, salt
and gravel are damaging to cars and their exteriors. For more information on protecting your car during winter

Helpful Car Buying Tips
Author : Matthew Keegan
Purchasing a new vehicle is a stressful chore for many people. Ask the average person what they dread most and they will tell you that "price haggling" is the worst aspect of negotiating a price. Few people come away from the deal believing that they got a fair shake; a significant minority will admit that they got ripped off if you press the issue with them. Besides shopping at a "no haggle" dealer – Saturn, for example – how can you avoid an unpleasant experience? Better put, can you? Let's take a look at some ways you can gain better control over the car buying experience so that you can save yourself some time, money, and a whole lot of aggravation.Stay away from the hot sellers. Many Japanese brands are sold at full price and bargains are hard to come by. Still, if you do a little bit of research you should be able to shave several hundred dollars off of the sticker price or secure a very low loan rate should you choose to finance your vehicle. If your dealer doesn't want to deal with you, go to another Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc. dealer to find a better deal.Buy a left over. On the other hand, not all cars are hot sellers and many models do not sell out when the model year ends. If there is a particular car that you want, you should be able to realize significant savings off of the sticker price. Don't be "wowed" by an already reduced price touted by the dealership. Likely, they are getting a secret rebate from the manufacturer; learn what that rebate is and get as much of it as you can. Remember: you are already buying a car that is a year old. If it is a discontinued model or the latest version of that model is significantly changed, you have additional leverage.Arrange your own financing. When purchasing a car, negotiate the lowest possible price before financing is discussed. If you come into the negotiation with your financing already covered, then you have additional leverage. If you are paying cash for the vehicle, demand an even greater discount.Go in equipped. Consumer Reports will sell to you a print out of exactly how much a car should sell for. Purchase a report on the model you want to find out what the dealer likely paid for your car. The price you pay should be much closer to that amount than to the sticker price.Buy through a car club. Car clubs, including those through warehouse clubs such as BJ's, can be an alternative way to buying a car at a discounted rate without paying full price. Each club has their own way operating, but in all cases you should be able to pay less and leave the haggling out of the equation. If you are the type of person who enjoys haggling, then your experience is not likely to be as bad. You know how to play the game and winning for you is simply securing the lowest possible price. For everyone else, a little outside help can save you money. Do not let your emotions tell you, "I must have this car," or you are likely to pay much more than you should. Remember: dealer sob stories are just that; if they can't figure out a way to make money off of a sale, then they shouldn't be in business.Copyright 2005 -- Matt Keegan is a contributing writer for the

Fifth Wheel Camping Trailers
Author : Nicky Pilkington
With the "master" bedroom over the truck bed, fifth wheel travel trailers, or "fivers" as they are sometimes called, have become the RV of choice for many full time RVers. With all of the comforts of home, the fifth wheel trailer is perfectly suited for fulltiming. In addition, the towing vehicle can be unhitched from the RV and used as a day-to-day car or truck -no need to tow a compact car on an A-frame like some big rigs!Specs of a 5th wheel RV:•Size: 21 to 40 feet (excluding tow vehicle)•Price Range: Prices vary greatly, from as low as $15,000 to over $100,000•Sleeps: Up to 8 people, depending upon make and modelFeatures:•The unique bi-level dimension of the fifth wheel travel trailer raises the unit's spacious "master bedroom" over the truck bed, providing more room for family activities in the "living" section of the unit. Many have large picture windows at the rear for panoramic views. Add in a slideout for the living/dining area, and one for the bedroom area, and it is easy to see why the fifth wheel travel trailer has become the RV choice for many full time motor home families.•As with all towables, the fifth wheel trailer is designed to be detached at the camping destination, freeing up the towing vehicle for short trips and excursions, running errands and other conventional uses.•A fifth wheel trailer has a towing hitch that requires a properly equipped and compatible full-size pickup truck or a custom tow vehicle. It is very important that the weight of the fifth wheel trailer is matched to the tow vehicle with the necessary towing capacity. Unless you already own the proper tow vehicle, this requirement is one potential drawback for the first time fifth wheel trailer purchaser. Newer lightweight fifth wheel trailers have recently been introduced, designed to be light enough to be towed by smaller trucks.•Towing a fifth wheel travel trailer is easier and more stable than towing most other RV trailers. Since the hitch is placed in the pickup truck bed directly over the rear tires of the tow vehicle, traction, handling, stability and safety are all improved.•Fifth wheel trailers are available in a wide range of styles, sizes, equipment and appliances. In the largest fifth wheel trailers, some of the appliances normally found only in high-end motorhomes, such as washers, dryers and on-board generators are featured.•With the maximum amount of living space, safe and stable towing and reasonable price ranges, the fifth wheel travel trailer may be the ideal solution for many full time RV/motorhomers.Find our more about 5th wheel trailer RV's at http://www.bestcamper.com

How to Rent a Car, Without the Headaches
Author : John Mancini
People like to try things before they buy them; cars are no exception to this rule. Trying a car out before you buy it is even more important when you consider the amount of money spent on one and the time spent in one. A great many dealers will let prospective car buyers test drive a car over night, but is that really enough time to decide if you want to buy it? If not, you may want to consider your option to rent a car for a short period of time. You will want to ask about any special instructions that are required of you while renting the car, for example, filling up the gas tank or pick up and drop off times. Not adhering to these policies can result in fees. The rental company may offer you insurance to purchase, however, your personal auto insurance may be all you need in the event of an accident with a rental car. Call your auto insurance agent and ask before paying extra at the rental counter. When you call, be sure to ask about price, vehicle availability, as well as any specials that the branch has to offer. It is worth noting here, that many of these companies will have special arrangements with hotels, airlines or even warehouse stores. There are a number of choices that are open to you when renting a car. Each class of car will vary in price and gas mileage; consider this when making your decision. While many companies may be willing to upgrade you, this is not always the case. It is wise to choose the car you want and hope for an upgrade than to reserve less of a car and be disappointed when an upgrade is not offered. It is wise to shop around when looking for to rent a car. Always find at least three rental car companies to compare, although more will be better. Be sure to ask all the companies the same questions to get the most accurate answers. Most rental car companies will have websites online to find basic information, but it is best to call as local branches may have deals that are not advertised online.Have a credit or debit card handy to reserve the rental car with, most companies will only guarantee a car with this assurance.John Mancini has been writing about rental cars online and offline for a long time. Jobbers and Suppliers for Mobile Oil Change Companies
Author : Lance Winslow
All mobile oil change companies which survive the first six months in business end up building quite a customer base thru smart marketing and good referrals. At some point they grow big enough to catch the eye of a local or regional jobber or supplier in the Oil Industry.Generally for new mobile oil change companies it makes sense to not have huge inventories of oil filters, windshield wipers, air filters and fuel filters. It is much better to stop by the local auto parts store and pick them up. Some small oil change companies even hit a 24-hour Wal-Mart each morning and pick up the filters they need to save costs. If you are buying locally from an auto parts store then you can buy your filters the day of or the day before after confirming your order, thus saving inventory costs. One would think that this plan of attack is worthy of mention. But of course there comes a time when your economies of scale do not make it that easy.Once you hit 300 plus oil changes per month or about 900 units or customers you will want to stock some inventory and you will want to buy the common filters used in advance and in that case chose a Wix Dealer and many Bulk Oil Jobbers whether Shell, Chevron, BP, etc. sell filters too, along with an entire line of products from windshield wipers to power steering fluids. Some small companies swear by the Amsoil Line and there are many off brands worthy of cost comparisons. But often those jobbers enjoy the benefits of customers like you, so perhaps if they are willing you too should be willing to listen to their pitch? For the expanding mobile oil change business this is definitely something to think on of course. If you are looking for a local dealer, supplier or jobber in your region or area we suggest you check out NOLN or contact George Markle or Sheila over there at the Online Buyers Guide, well at least to check price and make sure you are getting a fair shake. If you are smart you will build a relationship with your suppliers and not expect a reach around, just because they are bending you over. So do your homework and shop around. How to Change Your Vehicles Spark Plugs
Author : Jerry Lemke
A spark plug is used in every type of gasoline engine. Many people change their own spark plugs. Spark plugs handle the ignition spark that combusts or ignites the engines fuel and moves the piston. Spark plugs have to endure very high temperatures from combustion. Spark plugs also have to handle the spark erosion from the ignition system. There are many popular brands of spark plugs like champion, ngk, bosch, denso and autolite. Spark plugs can be gapped widely to help burn the mixture in the cylinder, especially if the mixture is lean. Spark plug gap refers to the distance between the little metal piece that hangs below the plug and the center electrode. A lean fuel mixture can not ignite as easily. A wide spark gap is used to jump across more of the chamber mixture and can help induce combustion. The plug gap can be too wide, especially if the ignition system is weak. This is why race engines use very high power CDI (capacitive discharge ignition) like MSD to ensure good spark. The engine needs more power to jump a wider gap or the high compression of a performance engine. There are many types of spark plugs such as platinum and iridium for longevity because they resist spark erosion (wearing away of metal) better than steel.Spark plugs have heat ranges that either transfer more heat or contain more. This is accomplished by the design and transferring of heat through the base of the plug. Heat range is either cooled or lowered for use with high compression, turbo or supercharged four stroke engines. This is so that the hot plug won't pre-ignite the mixture causing engine damage. Many two stroke engines or oil consuming four strokes will have a problem with fouling plugs. If fouling occurs the heat range may need to be increased to keep the oil burned off the plug. Oil on a spark plug will cause it the engine to foul, misfire and run rough. Champion plugs use higher numbers on their plugs to mean that the temperature will be higher. NGK's use the opposite range, higher number means a colder plug. Most two stroke engines use NGK plugs for their excellent anti-fouling capabilities. Some plugs will also be a p type or projected insulated electrode. Depending on the engine chamber design, this can help to place the actual spark closer to the center of the cylinder head chamber.Spark plugs are located in the engine's head, under the spark plug wires. The plug wires are easy to spot due to their larger size and location close to the top of the engine. They also come from the engines distributor to the plug. Remove the wire from each plug, and don't forget to place the wire in the same spot that it was first hooked to when finished! Most spark plugs can be removed with either a 13/16" or 5/8" socket. Inspect plugs to see if the electrode (center piece) and the grounding tab still has defined edges or are rounded, eroded and worn out. If worn replace them, this will help fuel mileage and performance.Although the spark plug gap is different for different engines, most are gapped between .030" and .045". The spark plug gap spec should be located under the hood or on a sticker on recreational vehicles. Use a feeler gauge to measure the plug gap, then tap the electrode closed or gently pry gap wider with a screw driver until the distance is reached. Tighten the spark plug snugly as the sealing washer will compress a little the first time. Always check the small top metal cap on a plug to see that it's screwed on tight.Jerry Lemke is the author of http://www.freeengineinfo.com.

Jeep, The All-purpose Vehicle For Rough Terrian
Author : Shannon Brown
Jeep is an all-purpose vehicle that is capable of traversing rough terrain. The first jeep prototype was designed by the Department of Army for purposes of carrying personnel and supplies.Later on, Ford and Willys-Overland produced two more jeep prototypes. In the end, Ford and Willy's-Overland manufactured the first mass production of jeeps. The origin of the word jeep is not clear, however people believe that the word came from phonetically slurred pronunciation of "GP" or vehicle for general purpose. Some people also think that the name for this multi purpose vehicle came from a character in Thimble Theater comic strip Popeye, the character is known as Eugene the Jeep. Eugene the Jeep is a character that could walk through walls and ceilings, climb trees, fly and just go anywhere it wanted.Early Americans believe that soldiers were so impressed with the versatility of the jeep that they named their prototype from the comic character. After the production of the first jeep prototype and the second set of jeep prototypes from Ford and Willys-Overland, Willys-Overland Motor Company was designated to produce the first mass production of jeeps in Toledo, Ohio. However, because of the huge quantity requirement of the United States Government, Ford Motor Company complimented Willys-Overland to help complete the requirements. In combination, the production of Willys-Overland and Ford reached about 600,000 units of this high mobility multipurpose-wheeled vehicle, which some call hum-vee.The jeep is widely copied by other countries such as in France and The Netherlands. The french version of the jeep is designed by Hotchkiss and in The Netherlands, Nekaf is the manufacturer of their jeep.Other versions of the jeep are the railway jeep and the amphibious jeep, which are more useful than any other vehicle of its size.Part of the war effort brought jeeps to the Red Army during the World War II.Today, the trademark holder of Jeep is DaimlerChrysler. DaimlerChrysler is the successor of the company Willys-Overland. Engine Overheating - Not a Problem for Ford Radiators from Ford Parts Discount
Author : Jay Stevens
Ford radiators are designed to keep the engine of your Ford vehicle cool. However, the same components are being pointed as one of the major causes of engine overheating and car breakdown—that is, when the radiator has failed or malfunctioned. Ford radiators from Ford Parts Discount, however, are not bound to experience these problems, at least not years after it was bought and installed in your Ford. The radiator is that component of your Ford's engine cooling system whose main function is to dissipate the heat that the coolant has absorbed to the outside atmosphere. For this reason, the radiator is often installed just in front of your Ford's grille, allowing it to make use of the air that passes through the vehicle's grille insert.Although its name would imply that it radiates heat, the radiator actually dissipates the coolant's heat not by radiation but by convection. Hot after absorbing all the heat in the engine block, the coolant enters the radiator through the radiator's upper hose. From there, the coolant trickles down or across the small tubes that makes up the radiator core. These tubes are attached to flat, metal pieces called fins that allow air from the grille to pass through the radiator. As the coolant passes through the small tubes, it transfers the heat it has absorbed to the blowing air from the grille. But while the radiator is the main component that actually keeps the engine of your Ford running at the proper operating temperature, it only has the ability to do so if it is working properly. Sadly, your Ford's radiator is also prone to a lot of damages, and the most common problems that your Ford radiator may incur include: leaky fittings or seams, fin deterioration and bond failure, electrolysis, cracked tank, and fan damage. As soon as you notice any of these problems on your Ford's radiator, it is recommended that you have it repaired or replaced immediately.Ford partsFord radiator------------------------

Marine Carburetors
Author : Eric Morris
The carburetor is that part of an automobile engine that converts liquid fuel into vapor. This is mixed with a certain amount of air that allows combustion in the cylinders. All gasoline vehicles have carburetors including boats and light aircrafts. Most engines have only one carburetor though some modern engines that have bigger engines or more than 4 cylinders use multiple carburetors. The carburetor influences the speed of the engine. This is possible by controlling the flow of air into the engine. The main function of a carburetor is to ensure that a correct mixture of gasoline and air enters the engine. The carburetor can start the engine cold, make it idle, accelerate, or stop. There are several kinds of marine carburetors depending on the kind of engine. They can be broadly categorized under 14 groups. These 14 models are mostly used in 2 and 4 barrels and Mercruisers. There are also remanufactured or rebuilt carburetors available for all kinds of engines, including 4-cylinder, 6-cylinder, and 8-cylinder. These are ideal for marine boats that run in both fresh water as well as salt water. The most popular brands of marine carburetors are Holley, Rochester, Carter Weber, and Mercarb. Marine carburetors should ideally adhere to US Coast Guard safety standards. There are several websites over the Internet that contains information about marine carburetors. Such websites also provide marine carburetor rebuild kits for many boat models. These kits can be ordered online and are usually shipped on the same day with free shipping. Companies also provide professional support by technicians who can take a look at the engine and help to decide the best carburetor kit for rebuilding the carburetor.Carburetors provides detailed information about carburetors, carburetor parts, carburetor tuning, and more. Carburetors is affiliated with Car Transport.

Car Wash Equipment Robotics, Robot Car Dryers No Tipping

One of the most difficult challenges in the Car Wash Industry is of course the labor. The Car Wash Industry is one of the most labor-intensive businesses there is and controlling the labor costs is a key to profitability. But finding low cost labor must be complimented with finding the quality labor, which is well groomed, honest and respectful of the customers and their cars. If not you will lose customers and repeat business. Most full service car washes average about a 15-20% regular customer rate and to sustain a higher repeat customer grouping the customer has to feel good about their car wash experience. If this is done correctly the repeat business will be paralleled by word of mouth referrals to their friends, business associates and/or family members. So, it is critical to get the best possible labor and watch the costs. But there will soon maybe a better way to do all this and more. How so you ask? Well, thru robot workers of course.Enter the age of the Robotic Car Wash. Actually robotics in car washing is nothing new, in fact it has always been a very automated operation, then again so has the entire automotive industry since Henry Ford's mass production of the Model T and you could have it in any color as long as it was black, because black paint could dry in only 10-minutes. Ah ha, so car washing is all about production right? Right.Drying of the car is a very difficult task for a robot, but hardly impossible with the latest robotic engineering now available. In fact if a car was parked between to reference lines the robot could dry the car never pressing down to hard using the latest MIT Haptic Sensor Technology on a Carnegie Mellon Robotic Arm. Even able to lift up the windshield wipers and dry underneath, get all the door jams and along the luggage rack cosmetic feature on top of your SUV. 7 Reasons To Use Synthetic Motor Oil In Your Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Or Chainsaw
Author : Donovan Baldwin
A few years ago, it was difficult to find synthetic motor oils, and equally difficult to find someone who admitted to using them. Nowadays, however, you can find synthetic motor oils on the shelves of Wal-Mart, and other retailers, and the number of people turning to synthetic motor oils, particularly in light of the recent events affecting fuel prices, has risen greatly. So why do people use synthetic motor oils rather than sticking with the old petroleum based stand-bys which are admittedly cheaper?1. Let's start with the cost per quart issue. Synthetic motor oils ARE more expensive at purchase. However, these oils last longer, requiring fewer oil changes. As a synthetic motor oil outlasts several changes of petroleum based lubricants, the ultimate out-of-pocket cost of the lubricant is less. This cost savings becomes even greater if you have someone else change your oil for you rather than doing it yourself!2. Synthetic motor oils have a higher initial viscosity index and less viscosity breakdown as compared to coventional lubricants. They also have more uniformly sized molecules. This means that over the period of life of the oil, more lubrication, hence less heat and more protection is being provided to the engine. In other words, longer engine life.3. Petroleum based oils may contain ingredients not found in synthetic motor oils. These ingredients often have nothing to do with the lubrication of the engine, but exist simply because it is too expensive or too complicated to remove them. The breakdown of these ingredients can result in sludge and other contamination. This not only affects the perfomance of the engine and its components, but contributes to pollution as well. While petroleum based lubricants are, as the words imply, "refined" from a "crude" product, there is a certain level of variability of product as well. Synthetic motor oils, on the other hand, are engineered to be of consistent quality. Additionally, they can be designed for specific purposes. For example, synthetic varieties can be found for the family car, race cars, motorcycles, chain saws, and diesel trucks.4. Because of their ability to lubricate better and last longer, synthetic motor oils help your engine operate more efficiently and easily, therefore requiring less fuel to accomplish a given amount of work. This is money in your pocket, and, since the benefits of the oil's effectiveness extend longer, this is the gift that keeps on giving.5. Regular use of synthetic motor oil means lower maintenance costs across the board, not just in terms of the oil changes themselves. Engines and engine components simply tend to last longer. It has long been known that one of the most important acts a car owner could perform to prolong the life of his or her car while lowering overall maintenance costs was to perform regular oil changes. When synthetic motor oil is used and changed on a regular schedule, the synergistic affect of lower lubrication costs, plus lower fuel costs, plus lower maintenance costs, plus longer engine and component life adds up to a tidy amount, not to mention the sales or trade value of the vehicle that has been kept in this manner.6. Due to the lack of ingredients such as wax or parafin, which may be found in conventional oils, synthetic motor oils begin flowing effectively throughout the engine much more rapidly in cold weather. Again, this results in lower engine wear and longer engine life.7. Less dependence on foreign oil. If all cars in America switched to synthetic motor oils, gear lubes, and drive train lubricants, billions of gallons of oil could be saved every year. So, use of synthetic motor oils can save you money by making your engine and other components last longer, require less maintenance, and use less fuel. Repair costs will be reduced, your vehicle will last longer and perform more effectively. You will be contributing to the environment while reducing America's dependence on foreign oil.The author is retired from the Army after 21 years of service, has worked as an accountant, optical lab manager, restaurant manager, over-the-road longhaul truck driver and truck driving instructor. He has been a member of Mensa for several years, and has written and published poetry, essays, and articles on various subjects for the last 40 years. His experiences as a longhaul truck driver who owned his own truck led him to follow-up on various methods of saving money on operating costs while prolonging the life of his equipment. Mazda3 Giving Dynamics and Strength
Author : Kimberly Meyer
Known in Japan as the Axela, the Mazda3 is assembled and crafted by the Mazda Motor Corporation. The vehicle is actually based on Ford's global C1 Platform that was developed by Volvo and was shared with the latest European Ford Focus and Volvo S40. Mazda carried out the vehicle's chassis development, however, when it came to its suspension, this part was done by Ford.In the United States, the Mazda3 is made available in two trim levels – the "i" and the "s". The "i" has a 2.0 liter engine, meanwhile the "s" has a 2.3 liter engine. The latter has updated the vehicle with a stronger engine and includes in its list air conditioning, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote keyless entry, height-adjustable driver's seat, power windows, door looks and mirrors. The sedan under the "s" trim has a crisper handling with its larger tires. The Mazda3 is actually powered by an assortment of vehicles because it all depends on the market. The engine used in Japan is different from that used in the United States, and of course in Europe.Rolling off the assembly line, the Mazda3 rolled into view on December 8, 2003. What is standard for all trim levels is that each has a five-speed manual transmission. However, optional is a four-speed automatic for very much larger engines. The vehicle has been very well-received in all markets. Come 2004, it was actually recognized as the best selling car in Canada. The newest Mazda3 on the market combines the best qualities that its predecessors – GLC, 323, and Protégé – had. Taking the compact class car to an entirely new level in terms of refinement and quality, the Mazda3 has introduced a fresh and confident vision to a segment that has left customers of other brands wanting and craving for more. The new vehicle brings along with it promises of a memorable driving experience, and a whole new redefinition of style, build-quality, and performance in its own segment. Akira Tanioka, Mazda 3's program manager states, "The Mazda3 is the best designed, best-engineered, and most fun-to-drive C-segment (compact) vehicle in the current market. It truly does exceed our most demanding expectations."The Mazda 3 "i" and "s" is a sedan with a personality all its own. It owns the traditional three-box design however, this time around, taking a step further with dynamic proportions and taut contours. This then produces a refined yet sporty look, without sacrificing interior volume. It also has a long wheelbase, short overhangs, a short but high rear deck, and a compact-looking cabin that delivers a coupe-like design. This is exceptionally a good choice for customers who are looking for an aggressive yet sophisticated sedan.Unmistakably a Mazda, the new Mazda3 brings along with it the Mazda way of styling and functional intelligence. Its exterior has a design that suggests dynamics and strength, along with a presence that shouts out the exciting, fun-to-drive character that the vehicle has. Its interior has been designed and crafted to evoke excitement and delight with top-of-the-line interior functionality and easy comfort.Mazda Parts and Mazda Auto PartsMazda 3 parts-----------------------------Kimberly Meyer is an expert when it comes to automotive issues. Sharpness of the Acura TL
Author : Joe Thompson
Superseding the Acura Vigor in 1996, the Acura TL is a midsize entry-level luxury car. It is manufactured and sold under the Acura brand, which is under the automobile manufacturer, Honda. It has become quite popular in its own way and received a name for itself as the best selling luxury sedan, after selling more than 79,000 units in 2004.In 1998, Honda introduced the Acura TL-X concept car. It featured a preview of the second generation of TLs that would make its public entrance after a year. This second generation TL is now called as the 3.2 TL. It has a newly-designed 3.2 liter 225 HP SOHC VTEC J32 V6 along with a four-speed electronic automatic transmission with SportShift. The only option given to this vehicle was a hard drive based navigation system. Changes continued to roll in for the Acura TL as the years went on. This vehicle sported changes like a five speed automatic transmission with SportShift, that gave way for a slightly better fuel economy and acceleration. Other changes included the addition of side impact airbags for the front passengers and a change of format in its navigation system. Also done in were a DVD based navigation system where a driver could theoretically drive from one coast to another with this new navigation system installed. The system had stored the maps in zones and there were five different zones for the United States. The vehicle also sported a new façade with its redesigned tail lights, a great-looking and beveled front, and a wide, yet powerful stance. The gutter at the beltline of the vehicle sported a tough, extruded shape that could make one recall the blade of a hunting knife. Also added were an in-dash CD changer, firmer seats and suspension for the year 2002.Come the 3rd generation Acura TL, it became the first car in the U.S. market to have a six disc DVD-Audio system which had an output through an 8-speaker system. This system was engineered by Panasonic, and it also plays back normal audio CDs along with DTS audio discs, CD-audio, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs. It also has a Bluetooth HandsFree Link, or HFL, system that is integrated with the audio system itself and this HFL system allows drivers to use their cellular phones hands-free. By simply voice-dialing the number that they need to contact, drivers can have the entire conversation over the Acura TL's built-in audio system. The Acura TL makes drivers feel great when they are behind the wheel for Honda has certainly kept in mind to consider ergonomics. With the Acura TL, the driving position feels perfectly natural. The controls carry the feel as if they belong in a performance car. It also has notably short-stroke brake pedals that lets drivers modulate the new four-piston Brembo front brakes with a precision that could be considered as complete.Acura car partsfloor matsheadlamps----------------------------Joe Thompson is the owner of a successful auto body shop in Ferndale, California. Secrets to Ford Motor Company Lay Offs
Author : Lance Winslow
Ford is laying off some 30,000 people in the next five years and this will cause quite a problematic situation for many regions in the United States where factories will be closed and once high paying jobs provided for a vibrant economy. If you are wondering why this is occurring it has to do with increases in market share of the Japanese AutoMakers, over productive robotic factories and a series of poor choices by Ford. How so you ask?Well here is an interesting article from 2002: Electric cars hits the skid at Ford.http://www.evworld.com/databases/storybuilder.cfm?storyid=401/You see, it appears instead of the hydrogen cell technology, Ford choose to stay with its former strategy, which has not completely run its course. Instead of innovating and moving forward it choose to stay with their top selling gasoline models which use more fuel than the competing models. Are the US Automakers going to repeat the Deming Years? When the Honda Car stole the show and caused havoc with Detroit? Are we going to be running more Hybrid electric cars in he future? Using more ethanol? What does all this mean?Having studied the pros and cons of electric vehicles over other new technologies it is interesting to see the technologies used in the various hybrid models. In North and South Dakota, Nebraska and CA, they want ethanol. Even giving away a free piece of pecan pie if you fill up in ND. Then there is the problem of the pollution in the plants making the ethanol, which might merely re-divert some pollution. Then there are fights over that and where all the old batteries will go filled with H2SO4 will go after electric cars hit the junkyard. Still others think that Hydrogen cars could blow up like Hiroshima, not likely? There are many new studies and thoughts on the on this matter and there are the pure-ists who say electric is the only answer and in looking at the technology it is pretty cool stuff indeed. What is the government saying?http://www.ott.doe.gov/hev/So many things have been changing in the automotive world these days. But one thing is certain. Ford Motor Company is paying now for their failure to anticipate the market and spend money to move to position them selves to take advantages of these changes. Traffic Accident Rectification Robots

We have a really big problem in the United States with police departments who cannot get enough policemen to fulfill their obligations to protect their cities. Why is this? Well, a few reasons really, you see after 9-11 the TSA Transportation Safety Administration and the DOT Department of Transportation started paying more money and actively recruiting. This competition for qualified personnel made it tougher for the local police departments. Next the Department of Homeland Security was formed as an umbrella policing organization, which encompassed everything from Border Patrol to the United States Coast Guard and they added more people. This added more competition and now not only are the local police in trouble, but also the jails and prisons too.Unfortunately the need for more first responders and police are also at issue and this means if you have a fender bender or someone steals your car, well you can forget someone coming out to take a report. Many are concerned. Is there anything we can do about this? Why yes there is and I am glad you asked; I have a proposal to run by you.We need Traffic Accident Rectification Robots, these are robotic vehicles, which will come out in the event of an accident and take your report, take pictures and do calculations based on interviews from witnesses and evidence and determine fault and give you a printed report. Then take that information and GPS location and enter it into the massive police data computer. This information you can take to your insurance agency and the police will have this available to be categorized and rated in the future for placement of additional road way warning signs and road repairs. If there are injuries then the robotic first responders will quickly come and pick up the damaged humans for repair. Consider this in 2006.Lance Winslow - Online Think Tank forum board.
